NOC Manager

The successful candidate will take a leadership role in building out our NOC.

The NOC Manager will be responsible for the overall day to day operations of our 24x7x365 NOC, overseeing the network infrastructure, client systems, monitoring of services to ensure our SLA’s are met. NOC manager will be involved in planning multiple clients being integrated into the network, while maintaining the current infrastructure.

In response to requests by its key customers, RAD International is starting up a systems management group. The new NOC Manager’s position is a great opportunity for the professional that wants to create an excellent operations team.

Position: Manager, Network Operations
Department: Managed Services
Salary Range: Based on candidates experience and capabilities

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for managing the daily activities of the Network Operation team in a 7x24x365 environment
  • Responsible for hiring, coaching, training and motivating staff
  • Manage and coordinate internal projects for system improvement and network performance optimization
  • Manage network operations activities and programs
  • Oversee and coordinate the maintenance, operations and troubleshooting of infrastructure to ensure that the network runs efficiently
  • Introduce and implement various network operations policies
  • Facilitate resolution of technical problems with the infrastructure
  • Plan and establish goals, and ensures that network operations department meets specified goals
  • Continue the development evolution of the Network Operations Centre
  • Manage 3rd party data centre and bandwidth providers
  • Responsible for the development and reporting of performance and capacity metrics
  • Maintain and enhance the monitoring strategy for the supported platforms
  • Maintain and update shift schedule to maintain coverage during staff vacations
  • Create training documentation for staff for existing and new platforms as needed
  • Able to oversee implementation of new technologies in the production environment
  • Capable of reporting on the overall state of platform and projects

Qualifications:

  • Hands-on, easy going and respectful management style
  • Strong project management skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are a must
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at the same time
  • Demonstrate experience working cooperatively with diverse technology teams
  • Experience in managing a 24x7 Network Operations Centre
  • Experience in managing high availability networks infrastructure and in a managed service environment
  • Strong business, people, and customer facing acumen
  • Knowledge of networking equipment and production servers
  • Understands the production needs of IIS, Windows Server, UNIX/Linux, and SQL environments
  • Wide range of technology exposure to many different technologies
  • Proven track record of working in fast paced fiscally responsible environments
  • Must be willing to be on-call including evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Works with minimal supervision
  • Work may require travel

Experience/Education:

  • 5-7 years experience in network management or telecommunications experience and/or previous experience with high technology networks
  • At least 2 years of that being Network Operations Centre management
  • Graduate degree in computer science is preferred

Candidates must be able and willing to be on call 24x7x365 and work flexible hours.

Travel (up to 25%) in the United States and Canada may be required.
