In response to requests by its key customers, RAD International is starting up a systems management group. The new System Administrator positions represent a great opportunity for the professional that wants to leverage his/her expertise in a new operations team that strives for excellence.

Position: System Administrator
Department: Managed Services
Salary Range: Based on candidates experience and capabilities

Responsibilities:

• Support Corporate infrastructure and internal users
• Maintain Exchange, Active Directory, SharePoint and associated systems
• Provide 2nd level support for our Network Operations team
• Perform security assessments, make recommendations
• Troubleshoot software compatibility issues
• Maintain enterprise backup systems
• Maintain various client servers at multiple data centres
• Perform routine system level administration, including server patching, routine maintenance, upgrades, inventory, backup
• Monitor systems to ensure clients SLA’s are continuously met. Ensure systems are up and running 24x7x365
• Perform necessary repairs to system
• Assist with client maintenance windows and bring new clients on board
• Design, build and support large Windows and UNIX/Linux server installations, including large scale databases deployments, fiber and network attached storage, clustering, load balancing and other aspects of a high performance environment
• Research, select and procure equipment as necessary
• Maintain a tight control over all servers and workstations against non approved software
• Implement disaster recovery plan for OS, servers and applications

Requirements:

• 5+ years of professional experience in a technical support role in a managed service company
• Work in environment supporting multiple data centres and multiple clients
• Work in a 24x7x365, high availability system work environment
• Demonstrated ability to work both independently or in a team
• Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills
• Familiarity with all versions of the Windows operating system, including Server 2003
• Comfortable working in a heterogeneous environment, and being called upon to help deliver cross-platform solutions
• Experience with network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, WINS, and SNMP) and security protocols
• Knowledge of network infrastructure setup and configuration
• Hands on Experience to enterprise firewalls and routers including Cisco, and Watchguard; F5 is a plus
• Knowledge with building and supporting SUN, HP, DELL, and IBM systems, running Windows, Linux, Solaris, or AIX
• Administration of applications such as Oracle DB, PostgreSQL, MySQL. IIS, Apache Web Server, Postfix MTA, Samba, Tomcat, Jakarta, JBoss, WebLogic, AquaLogic, WebSpere and the custom made software
• Intimately familiar with the software development and testing process and environments
• Proven experience with systems planning, security principles and general software and configuration management best practices
• Must be willing to be on-call including evenings, weekends and holidays
• Excellent customer service skills
• Works with minimal supervision
• Work may require travel

Candidates must be able and willing to be on call 24x7x365 and work flexible hours.

Travel (up to 25%) in the United States and Canada may be required.
